Confirming that it works on wireless only, after reboot.
Thank you very much!!
Anyway, it seems to have worked!!!
I can make a connection to a wireless network!
But I am also wired... or I couldn't look for solutions.
I'll try disconnecting the wire and see if it still works on reboot....
IT seemed to take a long time on the Dell splash screen (loading the BIOS?) Upon reboot there is improvement.
From the networking icon on the toolbar I see the system now thinks there is a wireless device but it says it doesn't have firmware. So back to the additional drivers window and try to activate... it took a while but it says it worked... and I have to reboot again.... hand on.....
When If first installed 11.04 wireless worked fine. Then I applied some updates including a kernel update and it no longer works.
I've seen other more complicated solutions. This one seemed simpler so I had hope... but it didn't work, It failed when trying to activate the STA wireless driver. Error:
SystemError: installArchives () failed
I didn't reboot.... I'll try that.
